چکیده

It is proposed that through the formalization of concepts related to trust, a more accurate model of trust can be implemented. This paper presents a new model of trust that is based on the formalization of reputation. A multidisciplinary approach is taken to understanding the nature of trust and its relation to reputation. Through this approach, a practical definition of reputation is adopted from Sociological contexts and a model of reputation is designed and presented. Reputation is defined as role fulfillment. In order to formalize reputation, it is necessary to formalize the expectations placed upon an agent within a particular Multiagent Society. In this case, the agents are part of an information sharing society. Five roles are defined along with the ways in which these roles are objectively fulfilled. Through the measurement of role fulfillment, a vector representing reputation can be developed. This vector describes the magnitude of the reputation along with the patterns of behavior associated with the magnitude. Through reputation measurement, an agent can integrate another agent’s reputation into its own personal beliefs of trustworthiness of that agent. Experiments are conducted to verify the sensibility of the proposed models for role fulfillment and overall reputation. The simulation results shows that the roles, defined for building reputation in an information-sharing MAS environment, react to different agent and user actions in a manor consistent with their formal definitions.

Towards a Formalization of Trust

This work focuses on the design and implementation of a new model of trust. The new model of trust is based on the formalizations of reputation, self-esteem, and similarity within an agent. Our previous work establishes the formalization of reputation within an informationsharing Multiagent System. The previous work claims that reputation cannot be universalized. This work universalizes reputat...

Sharing Reputation Across Virtual Communities

Trust and reputation systems for virtual communities are gaining increasing research attention. These systems track members’ activities and obtain their reputation to improve the quality of member interactions and reduce the effect of fraudulent members. As virtual communities become a central playground for internet users, the reputation a member gains within a community may be viewed as a soc...

A qualitative reputation system for multiagent systems with protocol-based communication

We propose a novel method for assessing the reputation of agents in multiagent systems that is capable of exploiting the structure and semantics of rich agent interaction protocols and agent communication languages. Our method is based on using so-called conversation models, i.e. succinct, qualitative models of agents’ behaviours derived from the application of data mining techniques on protoco...

Multiagent commitment alignment

Commitments provide a basis for understanding interactions in multiagent systems. Successful interoperation relies upon the interacting parties being aligned with respect to their commitments. However, alignment is nontrivial in a distributed system where agents communicate asynchronously and make different observations. We propose a formalization for commitments that ensures alignment despite ...

Value Centric Trust in Multiagent Systems

This work focuses on the design and implementation of a new model of trust based on the formalizations of reputation, self-esteem, and similarity within an agent. In this work we universalize reputation through the use of values found within all Multiagent Systems. The following values are manifested within Multiagent Systems: responsibility, honesty, independence, obedience, ambition, helpfuln...
